A logo is not a brand

Most branding engagements start with « we need a new logo ». Almost always the real problem is elsewhere: nobody can say in one sentence what the company does better than anyone else.

The signs to watch for

  • Three employees describe the company three ways
If the team does not say the same thing, the customer will never hear the same thing either. A logo does not fix that.
  • Every document looks like it came from a different company
Different fonts, approximate colours, a stretched logo. With no written rules, everyone improvises in good faith.
  • You look like everyone else in the sector
Same colours, same photos, same promises. The customer has no reason to choose, so they choose on price.
  • The brand did not follow the business
The identity dates from when you sold something else, to other people. It happens to every company that grows.

What we deliver

  • 01
The positioning, written in one sentence
What you do, for whom, and what you do better than the others. The foundation, and the step most branding projects skip.
  • 02
    The visual identity
Logo and its variants, palette, typefaces, image treatment. Designed to work small on a phone as well as large on a sign.
  • 03
    A usable style guide
Written rules, with the files, so your team and your suppliers produce consistent material without calling us.
  • 04
    The source files, yours
Vectors, colour and monochrome versions, web and print formats. You own them and can change supplier without redoing everything.
  • 05
    Applied to what already exists
Site, emails, invoices, social accounts. An identity that never reaches the daily tools changes nothing.

Frequently asked

The questions we get most before kicking off.

What is the difference between a logo and a brand?
A logo is a mark. A brand is what people think of you when you are not in the room. The first is drawn in days, the second is built with positioning, consistency and time. Redoing the logo without touching the rest changes nothing.
What does a style guide contain?
Logo versions and clear space, the palette with exact codes, typefaces and their hierarchy, image treatment, and examples of what not to do. The goal is that someone who was not part of the project still produces correct material.
What does brand identity cost in Quebec?
From a few thousand dollars for a logo and basic guide to several tens of thousands for a full repositioning applied everywhere. The factor is not the drawing, it is the number of touchpoints to redo. We give a firm price after a scoping call.
Do you do the website too?
Yes, and it is often the same engagement. An identity that does not reach the site stays a presentation. Our design page covers the logo and web side.
Does everything have to change at once?
Rarely. A brand with recognition is evolved rather than replaced: keep what people recognize, fix what hurts. Throwing it all out is sometimes right, but it is the minority of cases.
